‘Golden Vine’ Kinder Transition Programme

At Golden Grove Lutheran, we understand that a successful transition program can make a a significant contribution to how comfortable your child will feel as they transition into their primary education in our Foundation (Reception) classes. Therefore, we offer a quality transition programme from Kindergarten or preschool for all of our new students and are also happy to work with families to tailor an individual transition program to suit your child.

We place a great deal of importance on implementing a supportive and informative transition process for children and families joining us in our Foundation (Reception) classes.

One of the ways we do this is through our Kinder / preschool transition programme where children are encouraged to be involved in a range of activities which will support and enhance their social, emotional and academic wellbeing. Other benefits are the development of fine and gross motor skills and concepts needed for pre-reading, writing and numeracy whilst building confidence and familiarity of the school and its community.

During the months prior to their commencement of Foundation (Reception), children are invited to spend a series of mornings enjoying a range of exciting activities around the school, including a Storytime session in our Library, as well as a series of morning in the Foundation classroom with their Foundation teacher; to learn and grow together in confidence and skills in the semester prior to starting Foundation.

This takes place on Wednesday mornings and runs from 9.30am-10.30am or 9.30am – 11.30am for the terms before starting Foundation. All children receive a ‘Golden Vine’ t-shirt to wear each week.

This programme strengthens children’s confidence and minimises stress or concerns about “starting school” as it gives them the confidence to get used to the classroom, teacher and peers in a gentle and gradual way.
