Harmony Day 2020

Harmony Day 2020 Timetable

Dear families,

For the past 21 years, people all over Australia have come together for a week to celebrate the harmony that exists between our people and the cultures that make up our nation. Harmony Week is a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity which promotes inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all. The cultural diversity of GGLPS is one of our greatest strengths and it is at the heart of ‘Who We Are’. The theme for Harmony Week this year is ‘Everyone belongs’, which aligns perfectly with our new mental health program ‘Be You’. Now that we are a ‘Be You’ school we will continue to grow our understanding to best support and develop student mental health.

We will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday the 20th of March (Term 1 Week 8). Each cluster has been busy preparing for Harmony Day a day in which we celebrate the many cultures within our school community. The timetable for Harmony Day is included below. Every class will be involved in one session to design and paint a rock that reflects their identity. These rocks will be used to form an art installation that will celebrate our community. The Year 5/6 Cluster will be taking part in a Peace Workshop for one of their sessions. Year 1/2 have the opportunity to end their day with a Sport Clinic offered by Endeavour College. Other sessions are being planned to use and celebrate the Arts of different cultures. We are looking forward to a fantastic day of celebration!

Thank you for helping make this a great community event for GGLPS.

Yours sincerely,

Celeste Hueppauff
