Topics we explore at GGOSH

Each term at GGOSH we explore different topics which are planned using the My Time, Our Place framework. These topics then form the base in which we create activities from, for the students to participate it each afternoon during Activity Time.
Announcement and Fruit Time at GGOSH
Each afternoon we have announcements and fruit.  During this time we share some important announcements and have a quick run down of our choices for the afternoon ahead. We choose children to help with jobs after snack.  We also share interesting facts about the topic we are covering, the fact is read out and glued to our poster. We use this poster each afternoon, so at the end of the week we have a poster with 5 interesting facts about the topic we are exploring. These posters are then displayed in the GGOSH room. We enjoy the discussions and sharing time this brings.  We have  just added 2 sharing boards that we can answer questions on. Each week on 1 board we may have a question about what we know on the topic we are exploring and then on the other board, may be a general question about something we like, have done, are doing etc to share with others.

Activity Time at GGOSH

Our Activity Time at GGOSH is broken up into 4 different components which cater to every students differing interests and needs. During Activity Time we also offer homework which is supervised to support children who need assistance. The components of Activity Time are: Art and Craft, Construction, Fit and Fun and Chill Out.

Art and Craft

An Art and Craft activity is offered for those wanting to get creative!

A construction activity is offered for those wanting to have fun building, creating and playing with things with friends.

Fit and Fun

A Fit and Fun activity is offered for those wanting to get some fresh air outside and have a run around. We offer a structured activity which fits inline with the current theme and also free time with GGOSH equipment.

Chill Out

A Chill Out activity is offered to those who want to relax after a hard days work at school. In Chill Out we supply books on our current theme for the students to learn and develop their knowledge and also show a movie on the big screen in the GGOSH room also based on the topic.

During activity time students have the option to complete any homework they need to in a supervised environment. Our GGOSH staff are always happy to help out with reading, spelling or any of those tricky maths questions! As soon as students finish their homework, they can move onto an activity of their choice.

Snack Time

Each afternoon we have yummy snacks.  We know what we are having by checking out the menu board in GGOSH.  We also know if our snack lady needs helpers by her green helper stars on the menu display. We love helping prepare snack..
We have a great variety of things for snack from pizza toast, pasta bakes, sandwiches, soup and garlic bread, just to name a few.
