Care Hours

Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 8:30am and 3:15pm – 6:00pm.
Vacation Care 6.30 am – 6.00pm.

The objective of Golden Grove Out of School Hours care (GGOSH) is to provide a service to the families of Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School: we provide Christian care in a happy, safe and loving environment for children of parents who require this service before and/or after school for their child/children as well as vacation care during pupil free days and school holidays.

GGOSH aims to provide quality recreational care for children of school age. It is our belief that the provision of well-supervised care for children on their own school campus is a significant contribution towards our continued support to parents. We are committed to offering a secure, familiar and safe environment, which extends the Christian nurture of our school and church community.

It is recognised that many users of GGOSH are working parents and therefore are not able to have daily contact with the school. We see the GGOSH program as a vital link and information exchange for those parents.

GGOSH enhances the already well-established relationships between GGLPS and its parents. GGOSH is only available to families currently attending and those who are enrolled to attend GGLPS.

Location

GGOSH operates in facilities next to the junior primary playground.

Enrolment

An enrolment form can be obtained from either GGOSH or the front office of the school.

Bookings

All GGOSH and Vac Care bookings can be made online through Spike. You will need to register an account when booking for the first time, please contact the GGOSH director.

Programme & Activities

Each week at GGOSH we explore different topics which are planned using suggestions from the children and are in line with the My Time, Our Place framework. These topics then form the base for which we create activities for the students to participate in. Activities are broken into 5 components which cater to every student’s interest and need. Activities include:

• Art and Craft
• Construction
• Fit and Fun
• Chill Out
• Sensory Play

Our morning service opens at 6:30 am and runs through till 8:30 am when students move off to their classrooms. Our facility is then staffed until 9:00 am, available for any parent inquiry. Morning activities include watching morning cartoons on the big screen in the GGOSH room, playing on the Wii, our art and craft which changes every week, playing outside the GGOSH room in the Junior Primary (JP) area and after 8:00 am moving out to either the computer suite or ‘outside play’ where we have access to the big playground, oval and tennis courts (if there are enough interested students).

Our afternoon service is available for students from 3:15 pm-6:00 pm. Our doors open at 2:30 pm to set up for the afternoon and to be available for any parent inquiry. Each afternoon we have announcements and fruit. During this time we share some important announcements and have a quick rundown of our choices for the afternoon ahead. We choose children to help with jobs after snack and have an open conversation about the children’s day.

Homework: During activity time students have the option to complete any homework they need to in a supervised environment. Our GGOSH staff are always happy to help out with reading, spelling or any of those tricky maths questions! As soon as students finish their homework, they can move onto an activity of their choice.

Vacation Care

During School term holidays, we plan different programs which include onsite and offsite activities. Some of the past planned events include Movie Days, Bowling, Playgound Visits, Water Days, Cooking and Games. Positions are limited on certain events due to staff/child ratios and/or transportation, so it is important to book in early.

Food & Snacks

At GGOSH, we offer breakfast from 6:45 am-8:00 am. We have a selection of popular cereals, toast and beverages including juices and Milo.

Each afternoon we have yummy snacks. Children know what we are having by checking out the menu board in GGOSH. We have a great variety of things for snack time from pizza muffins, pasta bakes, biscuits and wraps, just to name a few. All snacks are made from scratch where possible to limit the food additives and colouring. You will often smell what has been cooked and we are more than happy to share our recipes. All children have the opportunity to suggest a snack through the programming board. We provide three savoury and two sweet snacks each week.

Term Surcharge and Cancellation Fees

24 hours notice is required when cancelling bookings. There is no charge for cancellations made with more than 24 hours notice. Cancellations less than 24 hours will be charged at the cheaper rate of the session.

There is a $10 surcharge for all children that are not booked in but come to the service. After the Friday 12 pm cut-off and during the week of care, if you do not notify GGOSH of these online bookings you will be charged the $10 surcharge. This includes children that are booked in online after the Friday 12 pm cut-off for the coming/current week of care who do not notify GGOSH.

Late Fees

A late fee charge of $1 per minute, per child for the first 10 minutes and $5 per minute, per child, thereafter will apply after 6.00 pm.

Vacation Care Extra Fees

Late booking fee $10 per child, per booking after cut off date(second to last Friday of each term).

24 hours notice is required when cancelling bookings. Cancellations made with more than 24 hours’ notice incur a $10 cancellation fee, per child, per day.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full day rate.

Please ensure you know the days your child/ren are booked in or contact the GGOSH Director on the mobile number if you are unsure. If you come to drop your child/ren off without a booking there is no guarantee they will be able to stay due to staff/child ratios.
