What is happening in Year 2B and 2P in Week 2!

We are continuing with our unit of inquiry and looking at how we organise ourselves

  • This week we are continuing with our unit of inquiry and looking at how we organise ourselves. Students will be looking at the process of getting the food from the farm to home. Discussions at home around these processes would be a great way to help students become more familiar with the unit.
  • We have sent home an activity which your child may like to complete at home. This allows them to explore kitchen appliances at home through the concepts of change and function.

Mathematics:

  • We will be continuing on with money particularly focusing on Australian coins.
  • Whilst there is no ‘set’ homework for mathematics we do encourage all students to be practising their maths at home. We encourage you to ask your child questions about money or count their pocket money.
  • In class we use computer programs to aid in the students learning. Below are two links to great educational websites that provide a fun and engaging way to learn.

  • Premier’s Be Active Challenge– The challenge is open to all students and concludes in September. They must fill in the 4 week ‘Physical Activity Log’ (available from Mrs Arnold), recording at least, for 4 weeks, at least 60 minutes a day on 5 days each week. It can’t be recorded simply as a total of 300 min a week. The idea is that children get into the habit of doing 60 min of activity every day. This can include PE lessons at school and running around at recess and lunch.
